Nottinghamshire YMCA has been serving the community since 1871 and we’re proud of our 140 year history.

Today, our Shakespeare Street building, is one of Nottingham’s iconic landmarks, but the YMCA is about much more than bricks and mortar – it’s about you.

We’re part of the history of Nottinghamshire, and we want to celebrate what makes the YMCA great – its people.

We’re building a story bank, a social history of Nottinghamshire centred on the people who were members of the Y. We’d like stories relating to every era, from the opening of Shakespeare Street to it becoming a homeless hostel in the 1980s. Whatever your connection, get in touch and ensure Your Story is heard.
